Description
The painting has been posted earlier, but I wanted to show exactly where my points of reference lay with Ralph McQuarries original, his painting of the (then female) Skywalker or Starkiller, viewing the distant space port of Mos Eisley from a desert ridge, with landspeeder and droids nearby.
The briefing from Clark, the author, was simply to have his characters viewing a tribal camp on a full moon night, again, from a vantage point, and the similarity to the Star Wars scene was instantly obvious to me.
Other versions were considered but the Ralph arrangement was too good not to do, and it also gave an opportunity to pay homage, in a way sealing in a direct link to my own love of the movies, and bringing a connection in to the Prophets of the Ghost Ants trilogy, which also shares strong similarities to the Star Wars canon.
