For those of us steeped in the magic of both the comics, science fiction and movie worlds, the last year or so delivered one sad passing away after another, a AAA roster of talent like Moebius, Ralph McQuarrie, Dan O'Bannon, Ray Bradbury, Maurice Sendak.
At 93, Ray Harryhausen has sadly joined the list, and as you can imagine, there's a terrific outpouring of obits for him speeding around the web. Rightfully so, his contributions to the movies and culture are immense, in both vision and execution. Scenes from his movies had the profoundest impact on every kid, and influenced my imagination to a level that I consider myself very very lucky to have seen his creations. Even on an old black and white telly they were fascinating.
Have a safe voyage Ray, thank you for the sweetest, scariest, most vivid and unforgettable memories.
