Illustrator, concept artist etc etc for the video-game and media biz since 1994, from hometown of London to the USA, Australia, Hong Kong and SE Asia, covered a wide range of material from the ironclad mythologies of Warhammer, Hellfire and Might & Magic, to the cult racing classic Re-Volt, the spandex worlds of Marvel and DC, the fantasmagoria of Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar Legend of Aang and Jimmy Neutron. A six year break from the industry gave just enough time to complete personal book project, Salsa Invertebraxa, which was awarded Best Art in Comics at the 9th @$$IE AWARDS, AICN Comics and nominated by the Aurealis Awards for best graphic novel 2012.

Dear Moz Watchers! Some.VERY.big.news.

I'm proud to announce that the legendary Heavy Metal Magazine will be serializing the entirety of my graphic novel 'Salsa Invertebraxa' in 6 bi-monthly chunks, along with some awesome comics from big hitters including DC mega-scribe Grant Morrison!

HM 280 001 MozChops CVR (hi rez) by m0zch0ps

This month see's the herald of his first issue as Editor-In-Chief, as he steers HM into taking a renewed leap into the punk-fantasy-phasmagoria that it was famous for.
There's a great twist if you're already familiar with Salsa and its ultra-ultra-widescreen format, as I'll be re-mixing it into the traditional comic 'portrait page' format, along with a few tweaks of text here and there, lets just call it the Salsa Vertical Metal Remix, so this will feel and play a little different than the one you already know :D

And if that wasn't enough to give me arrhythmia, I scored a cover too with one of the 'Prophets of the Ghost Ants' illos! Jeff Krelitz reminded me I've just joined the ranks of Moebius, Giger, Bisley and Richard Corben- one of the most prestigious honors that can bestow an artist.

Heavy Metal Cover - Issue 280! by m0zch0ps
Heavy Metal Cover - Issue 280!
Yep, I can hardly believe it myself. It's one of those goals you just think are beyond the grasp of mortals, but sure as the fingers I'm typing with right in front of my eyes, -  its still there, and I haven't woken up.

This is this months edition, issue 280 - one of four Special Edition covers, celebrating the inauguration of Grant Morrisons' tenure as Editor-In-chief, - I've posted a journal entry to explain more, in particular that Salsa Invertebraxa has been chosen to be serialized in Heavy Metal, starting this month, until Feb 2017! Incredible news!

Cheers to all! :)

Star Wars ATAT re-design by m0zch0ps
Star Wars ATAT re-design
I've been meaning to expand on the earlier re-designs, this could be an ongoing series. The little drones are added protection, those pesky Jedi's can sneak up from anywhere.....

Low Tide Ghost by m0zch0ps
Low Tide Ghost
Updated; New improved version
Thanks for the kind feedback everyone, there's been some really interesting remarks about the background on the vessel, which is great, I love nothing more than inspiring thoughts of what, where, why? it really makes for great discussion, champagne! :)

I don't get to paint spaceships often, so this was a blast to do.
I really wanted to do a crashed/wrecked/marooned craft, but not so wrecked that you couldn't tell what it was. I was trawling through images of the shipworks on the beaches of India and Bangladesh, and saw this piece by Andrew Bell, the lighting is brilliant. www.anmm.gov.au/site/page.cfm?…. This inspired the setting and lighting.

I'm a big fan of practical craft designs, craft which look as though they have a real purpose, where any elegance or superfluous design is fashioned around it's practical necessities. In the early stages of the painting I wanted to add two beachcomber looking characters playing chess in the foreground, relaxed as though they had grown accustomed to waiting a long time for rescue, - that'll be it's own picture.
As the ship took on its form, it started to look like a rusting beached whale, - hence I designed the wing to look fin-like and accentuate the barrel shape of the hull, with bloodlike rusty smears, as though harpooned and left to decay.

Star Wars AT-AT Re-designs by m0zch0ps
Star Wars AT-AT Re-designs
Just a few fun re-jigs of the classic Star Wars AT-AT Imperial all terrain transport, - of course, it's an icon of the 20th Century and nothing will change that, certainly not my tinkerings - but it was always bugging me how they were so easy to defeat i.e trip over with the shoelaces gag -  so I've done some brief sketches - tried to stay true to the classic lines, the intimidating silhouette, the animal-resemblance, the rugged practical machinery, the imperial aesthetics, all while addressing it's errant stability, (there are 6-leg variations for more all-terrain versatility) cranking up those limited firepower angles, especially on the soft underbelly where those pesky jedi's play, and if you look closely there's a couple of places where troop deployment has been tackled, it's still a work in progress though.

Update; one of these is getting a detailed make-over this week, just in time for Xmas :)

Combat at the Stronghold Arena
I always feel weird uploading pics, as they're often months out of date, under wraps or NDA's, so i forget to post them up, or have to rummage through old projects and folders, - I did a series of stained glass windows for the Heroes game, was a nice change to do something different, always good to have new problems and challenges. I would recommend anyone to approach a new piece in this style, very satisfying and plenty of online reference material for inspiration.

Thank you, very kind compliments. I believe the Ghost Ants book will be discontinued soon, as a major publisher has picked it up and will be re-packaging it, so best to grab that first. There's a trio of process videos , more time-lapse than explanatory. Cheers :)

It's an amazing movie, I think it should be re-released. The eighties were maybe a bit too early for its moment in the spotlight.

If you liked the movie, you will looooove the manga, wich is even more deeper. Graphics are amazing and story lines much more expanded!
Indeed it's the only manga I never read and I found it awesome!

Thanks. Maybe I have the market cornered at the moment, but there are some supreme artists out there, just a question of time before there's a whole slew of amazing insect art (for some reason the sculpture/ jewellery scene already boasts a lot of invertebrate specialists)
